25/10/2023 (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) - The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has revealed plans to convene with TikTok's parent company this Thursday concerning allegations of content limitations pertaining to the Palestine-Israel discord on the platform.
Minister Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that this engagement will be coordinated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). “TikTok has begun to express concern as we are setting up a dialogue with their parent company,” Minister Fadzil remarked following his presence at the Malaysia Stands with Palestine Rally at Axiata Arena on Tuesday evening.
This response from Fahmi came after inquiries about the government's stance on reports from netizens. These users claim that their posts, which included terms like 'Hamas' and several others, were abruptly removed by the platform.
Highlighting the rally, Fahmi praised the overwhelming participation, noting that over 16,000 attendees showcased the robust backing of Malaysians for Palestinians. “I trust this remarkable gathering will act as a catalyst and motivate all Malaysians,” he expressed.
Fahmi underscored the importance of aiding Palestinians through verified channels. He urged well-wishers to donate to credible agencies, cautioning against fraudulent entities exploiting the circumstances.
