MALAYSIA, 23/09/2024 (Asia News Channels) - The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will spearhead Malaysia’s participation in the 21st edition of the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) 2024, set to take place from September 24 to 28 in Nanning, China. The event marks one of the largest post-pandemic representations by Malaysia, with 150 Malaysian organisations participating.
This year’s delegation will include 12 government ministries and agencies, alongside four trade associations. Among the prominent participants are the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA). The Malaysia Pavilion will showcase sectors such as food and beverages, agriculture, lifestyle, healthcare, and services.
MATRADE’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, highlighted the significance of Malaysia’s continuous involvement in CAEXPO. “Our ongoing presence at this prestigious event reflects the importance we place on strengthening bilateral trade ties between Malaysia and China,” he stated.
Over the past 20 years, MATRADE’s participation has helped Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) gain significant traction in China. To date, over 2,000 SMEs have participated in CAEXPO, collectively generating RM6.3 billion in sales.
This year’s event coincides with the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations. Malaysia, which has been China’s largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years, is set to be the country of honour at CAEXPO 2024. The expanded Malaysia Pavilion will offer increased visibility for a wider range of companies, highlighting Malaysia’s economic diversity.
Participating Malaysian businesses will benefit from various initiatives, including buyer engagement sessions, market insights, and product promotions through live streaming. The event is expected to bolster Malaysia’s export efforts and further strengthen trade ties with China.
