MALAYSIA, 26/11/2024 (Asia News Channels) - KPJ Healthcare Bhd recorded revenue exceeding RM1 billion for the first time in the third quarter ended September 30, 2024 (3Q24), marking a significant milestone for the company. Revenue rose to RM1.03 billion, compared to RM906.89 million in the same period last year, driven by higher patient volumes and expanded bed capacity across its network.
However, net profit for the quarter dipped to RM86.03 million from RM91.75 million in 3Q23. The group’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) reached RM253.7 million. Excluding a one-off gain of RM34.8 million from the disposal of Indonesian operations in the previous year, EBITDA reflected a 14% increase, underscoring strong operational performance.
For the nine months ended September 30, 2024, KPJ reported a 15% increase in revenue to RM2.87 billion from RM2.51 billion in the same period last year. Net profit for the period rose to RM233.30 million from RM190.02 million.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, KPJ outlined its strategic focus on asset optimisation, bed expansion, and talent acquisition to navigate the competitive healthcare landscape. “The group is committed to upholding prudent financial management and discipline,” it said, acknowledging ongoing challenges such as cost pressures and a competitive talent market.
KPJ’s president and managing director, Chin Keat Chyuan, emphasised the company’s commitment to enhancing service offerings and patient satisfaction to drive stronger results.
The group declared a fourth interim dividend of 1.15 sen per share, amounting to RM50.2 million, which will be distributed to shareholders on December 27, 2024.
