MALAYSIA, 14/08/2024 (Asia News Channels) - Growth Charger, a prominent startup accelerator, has been selected to host the Malaysia Finals of the Startup World Cup 2024. This event is set to coincide with Malaysia’s Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations, providing a platform for one outstanding Malaysian startup to advance to the global competition in Silicon Valley. The winner will have the opportunity to compete for a grand prize of $1 million in investment at the Startup World Cup 2024.

This initiative supports the Malaysian government's aim to rank among the top 20 in the Global Startup Ecosystem by 2030 and to position Kuala Lumpur as a key digital and startup hub in Southeast Asia. Growth Charger’s mission is to showcase Malaysia’s entrepreneurial talent on a global stage, fostering innovation and attracting international investment in line with the Malaysia Startup Ecosystem Roadmap (SUPER) 2021-2030.

During a partnership signing ceremony at WORQ Intermark in Kuala Lumpur, Growth Charger announced a title partnership with Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd through MYStartup and strategic collaborations with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). Additional ecosystem partners include WORQ and CloudMile, alongside supporting partners such as Cyberview, Invest Selangor, and Gobi Partners, among others. These partnerships are designed to provide crucial resources to participating startups, increasing their chances of success at the global level.
Cradle’s Group CEO, Norman Matthieu Vanhaecke, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in empowering Malaysian startups to succeed internationally, stating, “By working alongside other key ecosystem players, we remain steadfast in our role to nurture innovation and provide the crucial support that our startups need to thrive.”
MDEC’s CEO, Ts. Mahadhir Aziz, noted that the Startup World Cup Malaysia Finals 2024 aligns with the national strategy to accelerate Malaysia’s position as a leading digital economy, offering startups a global platform to showcase their potential.
The Malaysia Finals will feature ten startup finalists, including companies like Pandai Malaysia, Braintree Technologies, and Vidanex. The winner will earn the chance to pitch before world-class judges in Silicon Valley, compete for $1 million in investment, and network with top venture capitalists and global startups.
Growth Charger, which manages a portfolio of 128 startups and has raised over $173 million in investment, aims to leverage its extensive experience to support the participating startups throughout the competition.
