18/09/2023 (Malaysia) - Malaysian B2B e-commerce specialist, Dropee, is teaming up with Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) to initiate the Digital Niaga programme, a new venture aimed at supporting Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Malaysia.
The programme, detailed in a press release distributed recently, has a substantial goal: to facilitate MSMEs' navigation through the complex Malaysian marketplace and to harness the increasing internet economy, which is forecasted to represent 22.6% of the country’s GDP.
To achieve this, Dropee and BSN will identify and train eligible MSMEs to incorporate digital and technological solutions into their operations. The joint effort is set to dispense about RM300 million in financing, along with providing custom solutions including revolving supply chain financing to address the various needs of these enterprises.
BSN’s Chief Business Officer, Mujibburrahman Abd Rashid, emphasized the pivotal role of MSMEs in the Malaysian economy and voiced his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are pleased to partner with Dropee, which is timely and coincides with our aim to drive digital transformation among MSMEs for enhanced operational efficiency and to gain a competitive advantage in today’s dynamic business landscape.”
Dropee, established in 2017, has evolved to become Southeast Asia's fastest-growing B2B wholesale SaaS-enabled marketplace, extending its services in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Through the Digital Niaga initiative, MSMEs will gain an opportunity to join Dropee's substantial e-commerce platform, a gateway to a plethora of digital tools essential for automating daily business operations.
Aizat Rahim, the Managing Director of Dropee, highlighted the unprecedented opportunity the programme offers MSMEs. He said, “The Digital Niaga programme is a golden opportunity for MSMEs to turn their businesses around. This programme provides the platform for them to find the right digital tools and easy access to financial resources. The aim is to boost revenue and growth for millions of Malaysia’s MSMEs by connecting them to the right solutions and partners, such as BSN.”
This endeavour stands as a cornerstone in fostering the growth and development of MSMEs, providing them with the requisite tools and financial backing to thrive in a digital-first economy, further underlining the commitment of both Dropee and BSN in fortifying the backbone of the Malaysian economy.
