19/10/2023 (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) - Datuk Allan Goh Hwan Hua, the co-founder and main shareholder of the embattled local carrier, MYAirline, has been taken into custody and is set to remain there for four days. His wife, Neow Ean Lee, and son, Goh Tze Han, are also being held.
Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf, the director of Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Investigation Department, confirmed that the Royal Malaysia Police obtained a four-day remand for the trio on the morning of 18 October, as detailed in an FMT report.
The Goh family were apprehended at their home in Shah Alam on the afternoon of 17 October. Datuk Allan Goh is 57, Neow Ean Lee is 55, and their son, Goh Tze Han, is 26.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the former prime minister, vehemently denied any affiliation with MYAirline. "There are entities striving to tie me to the issues of MYAirline, but I am unaware of this company's backstory. To the best of my knowledge, they received a conditional air service approval license on December 22, 2021, a time during which I did not hold the position of prime minister," he expressed.
Moreover, he emphasized that the engagement of Rosli Dahlan Saravana Partnership (RDS) as legal counsel for MYAirline’s stakeholders is no reflection on him. "RDS has every right to offer legal assistance to any party requiring it," Yassin noted. He voiced concerns over attempts by certain individuals to smear his reputation through baseless allegations about his connection with the airline.
On another note, MYAirline unexpectedly halted its operations on October 12 due to financial difficulties and the impending reorganization of its shareholders. This sudden move has left approximately 125,000 ticket holders, accounting for a ticket value of RM20 million, in a lurch.
