24/01/2024 (Malaysia) - Automaker Chery Malaysia recently entered into a strategic partnership with Southeast Asia's prominent used-car platform, Carsome. In a significant move, Chery Malaysia announced the signing of two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Carsome and Carsome Academy. This collaboration aims to revolutionize the vehicle trade-in process and enhance training within the brand's network.

The primary focus of the first MoU was to streamline the vehicle trade-in process. Customers looking to trade in their vehicles had the convenience of having Carsome conduct vehicle inspections at their chosen locations. Following these inspections, Carsome would promptly offer a price for the trade-in vehicle. Once the offer was accepted, customers could seamlessly exchange their old vehicles when picking up their new Chery cars, enhancing the overall customer experience.

The second MoU centered on bolstering the soft skills within Chery Malaysia's network. This agreement encompassed several key areas: upskilling Chery’s workforce through specialized training programs, enhancing skills with the Peneraju Skil motor vehicle inspection program, providing on-the-job training for Carsome Academy students, and engaging in collaborative marketing initiatives. These measures were designed to foster collaboration and growth within the brand's network.

Lee Wen Hsiang, the Vice President of Chery Auto Malaysia, expressed that these collaborations were timely, especially considering the growing customer base since the brand's debut in July of the previous year. With plans to expand to 48 showrooms by the end of 2024, Chery Malaysia anticipated a significant increase in its workforce, including sales representatives and managers. Therefore, prioritizing customer service excellence became a critical factor for the brand's future success.

Eric Cheng, the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Carsome, highlighted the company's commitment to collaborating with more automotive manufacturers. This partnership with Chery marked a significant milestone in expanding Carsome's network and touchpoints, furthering its mission to provide an unparalleled car ownership experience. Cheng emphasized the importance of offering customers upfront information on their car's trade-in value, thereby facilitating a smoother transition to new Chery vehicles.
